Mama Says Wash™, Company

Mama Says Wash! is based in Austin, Texas where I reside with my husband, two daughters, and two spoiled miniature dachshunds. Prior to motherhood, I spent 8 years in the semiconductor industry in a variety of positions including production supervision, process engineering and new product development. I left the working world to start a family, but after a few years at home with two beautiful children, I knew I needed to find something additional to exercise my brain. Trading high tech corporate life for diaper duty had been a major adjustment! Mama Says Wash! not only saved my sanity, but it allowed me to pursue something I loved while being at home with my children. We've come a long way since those early days in my kitchen. In 2004, we moved to a larger home, with a separate soap studio and home office. At the time, I couldn't imagine how it could get any better; but, business was booming and before long, I had to hire help just to keep up. Over the years, I've had the joy of meeting thousands of people across Texas through participation in various craft shows, holiday markets and such. Meeting with customers face-to-face and talking about the benefits of handmade soap, or just seeing which designs brought smiles to their faces, made all the packing, traveling and unpacking worth it. So, it was not an easy decision when, in 2008, I decided to stop doing shows and focus more on a wholesale model. The decision was based partly out of necessity in order to keep up with the growth of the business, and partly on one too many nights on the road away from my family. Today, all of our soaps are handmade at our production facility in Austin by myself and a team of talented soap artists. The great thing about soap is that it's such a useful item…something everybody needs and uses. Whether you're buying for yourself or for others, this isn't just some item that's going to sit on the shelf and collect dust or get shoved in a drawer never to be seen again.
